I don't think Nov 11 is a particularly great day for my family, historically.

I think one of the exceptions is scene work for theatre majors.

When a parent takes bad news, thanks me, and handles it I'm always SHOCKED. It's definitely not the normal anymore.

Unless the behavior is so bad that the teacher got extra cryptic to soften the blow.

And while I can support the social emotional learning that happens at school as a parent, I can’t simulate an environment in which my kid is one of 20 who wants to speak or use the swing at the same time, so it’s critical that that takes place at school.

What id say is it’s easier to learn math later than the emotional stuff. Emotions, social language etc has a pretty narrow window to imprint

I taught PreK and it's more like 10% numbers and letters. We did carpet time with days of the week, seasons, weather, numbers, letters for MAYBE 30 mins a day. Sure there were centers with less structured academics, but it was MOSTLY SEL. We spent more time outside than on numbers.

I'm so glad I got mine a couple weeks back because a kid in my class last Thursday giving a speech feet away from me was out Friday and had tested positive that morning.
