Seems like this is a good opportunity for open-minded, intellectually-curious liberals to ask themselves whether advocating an absolute right to speech actually does have the intended effect of facilitating civil discourse and reducing political violence

I think there’s a lot of bullshit outdated advice out there but leveraging personal connections has always been good advice and if anything that seems more true now when a lot of applications are going to go into a bottomless pit
Disrespectfully, I need anyone who has not looked for a job within the past year to shut up because shit has changed. Your advice and experience doing this in the past means nothing. You have not job hunted like people are job hunting right now, don’t give people false hope with your outdated ideas

@jasonschreier.bsky.social @midimyers.com Just wanted to clarify that the Acts in Clair Obscur are all titled within the game, the IGN guide was not adding anything

Honestly there’s a clear lack of official leadership in the party right now, this seems the best way to establish an unofficial leader

Also this negates the “this person shouldn’t be running” argument; the person is doing good separate from the potential political benefits
honestly if you've got an audience, consider following the playbook:
- file the paperwork
- talk shit
- raise money
- spend it on community support
We have a lot on the calendar: clothing exchanges, banned book drives, lake beach cleanups. And that’s just the start.

Our campaign is all about providing tangible good NOW but we are powered by small dollar donors. Chip in $5 here: secure.actblue.com/donate/abu-x

Get why people describe The Pitt as being in real time, but it isn’t and I think that description is actually doing the show a disservice

Really wish orgs would be better about this, but if you’re trying to invoke your rights to silence or counsel you should be as explicit as possible: “I am invoking my constitutional right to silence/counsel”

If you’re protesting this weekend, know your rights.

Saw this last night and the (limited) crowd had a great time!
Steven Soderbergh talking about BLACK BAG and the future of the mid-budget studio film. God, I hope this movie does great this weekend. variety.com/2025/film/ne...

I think the fundamental problem with this idea is that most of the ostensible “professional factcheckers” are quite bad at their jobs
Are you old enough to remember “Pop-up Videos”? It was a TV show that played music videos and had “info nuggets” pop up on the screen with interesting trivia. TV could do that with political speeches to fact-check liars in real time, within seconds of their lies. 2/6 🧵

Also, impoundment is really not conceptually different from illegally spending or distributing money. The lack of pushback on impoundment means they will start doing that as well.

Used to practice divorce law and this was so often *the* problem with family’s finances

Don’t mind people using the word editing in the more general/universal sense when discussing movies (I do it myself), but seeing multiple people say “how did Anora win Best Editing when it’s too long” and that’s simply not what editing means in that context

Disappointing the Independent Spirit Awards just went to the same things as everywhere else, really would have been nice to shine a brighter light on movies like I Saw the TV Glow and Nickel Boys.
