Deporting people because of criminal records is bad policy

People are many things at many different times in their lives

and no one deserves to be only conditionally accepted forever
Self-deportation isn’t a thing. ICE forced this Hawaiʻi resident to leave the country.

He’s lived in the US for nearly 50 years, served in the military, received a Purple Heart for being shot in combat, but is being forced to leave for a drug offense.

As NY lawfully arms adults at scale, it is simultaneously working to increase the proportion of youth charged and sentenced *as adults* for gun possession that could be legal if they WERE adults

Among many counterproductive law enforcement tactics this outlet never quite delivers on criticizing
In New York City residents are arming up. Since June 2022, applications for concealed carry permits have dramatically increased — meaning that legally carrying a firearm in the city, which was once proudly unwelcoming to guns, could soon become commonplace.

With few rules on how the courses are taught, gun aficionados have stepped in to run them.

A juvie guard was found not guilty of battery and official misconduct last week. “The defendant puts his hand on [the child] and maybe pushes him at best,” the judge in the case said. “There is no picking up and throwing down.”

Watch the video. Tell me if you agree and if you also agree that 2+2=5.

The International Criminal Court is ditching Microsoft Office, saying it’s too dependent on US tech, in favor of Open Desk, a German open source alternative.

The move comes after Microsoft revoked ICC head Karim Khan’s email access when he was sanctioned by the US for the warrant against Netanyahu.

Worth remembering: having "gang ties" is not a crime
NEW: DHS secretly obtained Chicago police data on 900 residents accused of gang ties. It was quietly deleted after intelligence officers violated rules against domestic spying.

The handoff came well after city inspectors formally announced CPD's gang data was deeply flawed and infected w/ bias.
DHS Kept Chicago Police Records for Months in Violation of Domestic Espionage Rules
The Department of Homeland Security collected data on Chicago residents accused of gang ties to test if police files could feed an FBI watchlist. Months passed before anyone noticed it wasn’t deleted.

In addition to slowing the video down, as IW does in OP, it helps to turn up the brightness and contrast of the video. In it, you can see the position of the boy's ankle remains entirely unchanged for over one full minute. He does not press his foot against the wall to lessen pressure on his torso.
