Too much glorification of spiteful behavior online. Just because someone is annoying to you, doesn't mean you should always punch 50x lower by saying misogynistic or racist stuff. It isn't nor does it make you look cool.

Personally I think it's also a great example of why government investment in scientific pursuits is incredibly important for the private sector too. I don't know about every last example, but tons of tech developed for NASA and others bleed over and companies lap up all the vetted/stable research

I feel like it might be a confidence based move. Like "we've already got these losers hooked enough to be paying $200 per month, let's milk this and throw ads in on top of it all. No way they'll back out over just this".
