@grantrandom.bsky.social When you think of a “boss” or a boss who would make you work late on a Friday, do you immediately think of a male? 😇

This is an agent of the US federal government, armed for live-fire combat against a modern army, slamming a passive and nonviolent female candidate for the US Congress into asphalt.

Then walking away without checking if she has injuries, with his identity concealed behind a black facemask.
moments ago, ice agents again came out of the broadview detention/“professing” facility to escort a silver suv out of the lot.

one of the agents picked up and threw congressional candidate kat abughazaleh to the ground.

Remember that this case was one of three examples (the other being Adam Schiff and Lisa Cook) where Trump official claimed mortgage fraud, and asked DOJ to investigate. The weakness of one of the James cases casts further doubt that the Cook/Schiff cases can hold up to scrutiny.
Trump is firing his own nominee, because he will not go along with the President's conversion of the DOJ into a lawfare retribution machine.
Imagine what happens when the DOJ is only made up of people willing to engage in such abuses of the law.

If I have any credibility with you from 20 years of reporting on rightwing & fascist movements, please listen when I beg you not to celebrate Charlie Kirk getting shot. Leave aside morality: this isn’t a match in dry grass, it’s a torch. We do not want what this could ignite & we would not win.

Political violence disproportionately hurts people with less power, not people with more power. Political violence will disproportionately hurt people of color and women and LGBTQ people. It’s not fair, but that’s the way it works. Celebrating political violence means at best indifference to that.
Political violence is bad. It usually begets more political violence.

Campus shootings are bad. They make everyone on campus less safe.

It's bad that what I wrote here is controversial.

Issue-specific targeted checkpoints like DUI checkpoints can be constitutional, but a generalized roust-everyone-for-anything checkpoints are definitely not. There may be an exception for a special purpose to help a career sex pest and rapist evade attention to his connection to a serial pedophile.
Situation on 14th St and W St. NW, with federal agents -- no specific agency identified -- pulling cars over for checks. They arrested a Black woman in this car.

BIG crowd of people shouting at police.

"Fuck you!"

"What is wrong with you!"

"You don't need to terrorize people like this!"

This is yet another example of racism in action, deploying the National Guard to a predominantly Black city isn’t just about security. It’s about control, intimidation, and sending a message rooted in racial power dynamics. We can’t ignore the racial aspect any longer.
