Finally tested models in animations. Overall, it is all smooth. Took notes for future rig improvements.

That's a bunch of separate rough mesh objects distributed on the body in particle editor. For the clarity of shapes, body normals were reprojected on fur. That method is not flawless and can break from extreme deformations or poorly lit scenes, but overall it is easier to manage.
