If I had a ginormous lens for a camera that might be a better option? But this is what I had already

Yeah it's 25x to 60x zoom. But right now it doesn't automatically zoom or focus. I did just buy a small stepper motor to see if I can 3d print a gear to attach to the focus ring and control it that way.

I should clarify that it's not particularly polished or bug free, but it gets the job done.
