today i got tree-sitter queries working and did a lot of boring API design for variable line height support, but now i can make `null` appear in 64pt Zapfino complete with a disgusting shadow

also today i instrumented chrome to find out why it was hanging & found out it spent 100ms on the main thread fetching the name of my display because of lock contention from some other, separate, chrome process that was wrecking havoc on SkyLight. nice

even as a complete beginner to graphics programming, being able to point to a pixel and seeing the corresponding neighborhood in the sampled texture, ostensibly across all color attachments, is amazing. and it has print debugging

@radiatoryang.bsky.social wowow, this section of level design book felt uncannily apt and basically articulated my own feelings to me - why i'm obsessed with source engine and hammer, and why modern FPSes don't appeal to me as much as quake/doom/CS era FPSes
