I think it also helps a lot, in any creative pursuit, to prioritize processes that are at minimum natural, if not enjoyable, to do often. I've gotten real ambitious early in a project only to get stuck in the drugery of what it takes to make the cool thing real.

That's an interesting mindset and also maybe why I can't relate to that stuff. Like, the thing I like isn't mainstream and I'm an outcast? Oh no! I'm exactly where I was before. MFers gotta embrace their freak.

Also I forgot to comment on the ad-based platform point, that's basically just minimize your social media time. The platforms that need you to be engaging to make money. If you're there to speak with friends or organize, that's fine, but try to prep entertainment other than YouTube. That's my plan!

I think that ethos makes it doubly important to replace and not just avoid. The point is to hurt corporations, to hit them where it matters to them, the bottom line. Small businesses aren't the problem, shit like Amazon is.

This kinda just turned into "temptation avoidance" advice, but that is the crux of a boycott, avoiding something. An important note on the website: "The Mass Blackout isn’t just about not spending. It’s about rerouting our time, money, and energy back into our communities."

The way my brain works, just removing a temptation isn't enough, I need to replace it somehow. I can't just sit indoors and tell myself not to go buy things, I have to fill that temptation with something else.
