Genuine response: shareholder capitalism. Once all of these big companies went public, they now had to deliver year over year profits. Thats inherently unsustainable/impossible, and even more so when you aren’t selling a uniform product: art. They want their money and they want it now.
Its pretty messed up how often there are layoffs in video gaming. Like it seems like an unusually common occurrence which doesn’t seem to happen in other industries. Why is that? Is it just so many going under or being bought out? Genuinely curious. Makes me scared to ever work in the industry
