Gotcha, that makes sense. I thought the photo looked off but shared it anyways because I really like that quote from Sam.

Also this. Something Fox is clearly aware of.

All good. I saw several old posts where people had requested someone create a dedicated AtheistSky feed so that was part of why I decided to create it. You can view it and pin it here. Same typical feed limitations so it only shows uses of the tag from the last 7 days.

Following content from intellectual people with healthy world views such as Sam Harris also helps. I'm a fan of his books and podcast, and an active user of his Waking Up app.

I escaped 17 years ago and am very happy I encountered the right people and books to help me down that path. The best thing I did to help along the way was distance myself from toxic family members who were constantly trying to pull me back in, and surrounding myself with like-minded people.

Similar to how the book sky feed works, any posts with the tag phrase attached. I'm not specifically removing anything right now because it's already set up to be a more refined feed. But I can expand it and refine it further if needed.

The two current main feeds for atheism simply include the word atheist or atheism. Which picks up a lot of posts from religious groups bashing atheists and things like that. So by using the more specific filter AtheistSky it narrows it down to only posts that specifically target the feed.

Sure, Iran and the Saudis play their role as they have for a long time, but to me the point of the meme is that there would be significantly less conflict (if any) in the middle east if the countries were a majority Atheist.

Most of my family is very religious far-right conservatives who live in swing states. They say that they exclusively get all of their news from Fox because all the emotional and hysterical content is more exciting and entertaining for them than the boring channels like NBC and NPR.

News outlets like Fox produce content that triggers an emotional response in order to engage the limbic system instead of the neocortex and make people more willing to believe their lies while hindering higher level logical thinking.

See my previous post for evidence.

It could also invite more people to join and participate by them not always having to see the negativity. I know a lot of people who do not have any social media accounts because they can't stand the constant hate, negativity, and misinformation being injected into every conversation.

The filter and moderation system on Blue Sky is highly customizable and plenty of people still choose to participate in endless debating.
