Balder Side Sword is a fun, uncommon weapon to run. You gotta spend an hour or so grinding for it unless you get lucky, but it's a fantastic weapon when you do get it. Legit one of the best in the game

It's comparable to a Halberd with a magic enchant iirc, except by the end game, the scaling is a little worse.

It's not great, but it's so rare that you are obligated to use it when you get it

I went over 10 years without having that dream story, but it recently happened again in which I lost the ability and people on social media started claiming it was a hoax from the start. I was distraught within the dream, but when I awoke I felt like I'd just reconnected with an old friend.

For the breath holding one, my favorite thing was to jump as high as I could, hold my breath, and then glide down the hills in my neighborhood frictionlessly. I think the motion was inspired by a mag lev project I did in elementary school where I just made a track and car with opposing poles.

Those dreams lasted a few months, once or twice a week. When I stopped having them, I felt sad.

Oh there was another similarly continuous dream where I unlocked the ability to levitate a fixed distance from the ground by holding my breath. I became famous and performed the trick for crowds.

Yes, often, but I forget. The only one I still distinctly remember was the dream where my house turned into a Zelda-style dungeon where the floor was mostly lava and there were puzzles and stuff. Every few nights I'd resume right where I'd previously left off, even mid-jump once.

Generatione 🤌

Actually now that I think about it, I only really use it in a school setting because the state wants us to incorporate it into our curriculum, so I have to find an ethical/useful way to do that (I teach public HS Comp Sci).

Given, accuracy is taken with a grain of salt. I always verify info with a non-AI source if I intend to use it for anything practical. I think it has no place in any sort of creative/artistic pursuit, however. And the environmental impact is of concern, of course. I very rarely use it.

As far as usefulness, the best I've gotten from it is explaining topics I'm struggling to understand in a different way, when give like a study guide or research paper in the prompt. Or like, explaining why someone coded something one way vs. another. Kinder than stack exchange.

I taught middle school 2 years ago, and I'd say more or less no. In any given class, maybe one kid likes Pokemon, but a dozen or more like Fortnite, Roblox, or Brawl Stars. Roblox is the ungendered favorite, Brawl Stars is extremely male-weighted. Fortnite seems to be waning in general.

I mean if you "don't" in this context, it seems like there's no consequence imo. Let people disagree, no skin off your back, right?

I think it was a mistake to engage with dissenters at all, because my lasting impression is that you're smugly condescending about it. I can charitably assume that you're just defending yourself, but it comes across as a little self-important. I can see why people want you to be more humble.

I don't think anybody is saying the gen is bad (at least not in this thread), just that the ps5 (and by extension for the same reasons, the xbox) is not worth investing in.

Counterpoint, if something runs like crap on a console you don't typically have the option to diagnose and remedy the issue.

On pc, i just set graphics to auto for every game and then maybe spend 60 seconds fiddling with specifics and I'm good.

Red Dead Redemption 2 had a budget of $540 million.

Noting that Rockstar's game budgets tend to be on the very high end.

I think most AAA games tend to be in 50-80 mil range nowadays.

I've always been a patient gamer. I buy stuff years after it comes out when it's on sale on steam for 75% off. Playing something first is almost completely irrelevant, imo. Doesn't change how good the game is whether I play it now or later.
October 13, 2025 at 8:14 PM
Point being people will always say "X has no games", but what they really mean is it doesn't have enough appealing games to justify the purchase, in their opinion. It's just easier to say it has no games
October 13, 2025 at 8:11 PM
The platform I play games on is more or less irrelevant, the decision is based entirely on convenience and accessibility.

For reference, people used to say the wii had no good games, yet it sold over 100 mil units and has hundreds of exclusives, dozens of which are actually good.
October 13, 2025 at 8:10 PM
I think they're just saying there's an unbelievably small library of exclusives to justify investing in an entire console. I'd happily buy a ps5 if those scales tipped, but at this rate I'm not confident they will before the next generation launches. I'll just stick to PC and Switch meanwhile.

I want to like it but i still run into issues uploading them to some social media sites or opening them in certain programs. Until that's fixed, they will continue to be the bane of my existence.

If I had to guess, for me, it's — all the people I've met irl with that distinct, chaotic, unhinged sense of of humor were women.

I personally never really assumed one way or another though. Ungendered vibes.
