For every surveillance state to function, there must be a critical mass of people who willingly act as snitches to further the regime's ideology.

I lived through this firsthand, money isn't the motivating factor for these people, it's the satisfaction of seeing people they hate suffer

Some Dems and pundits overread the significance of Trump's win. They looked at dissatisfaction with the border and discerned a seismic cultural reaction to immigration levels inside the country. The former was real. The latter is a mirage.

In Boston, three generations of one family have worked in child care, a career that once provided a stable way of life.

In the past, jobs that didn’t necessarily require a college degree could keep families housed and fed for generations. That’s not always the case anymore.
One job, three generations, 30 years of inflation: A story from Massachusetts’ shrinking middle class - The Boston Globe
For these families, working the same job, in the same city, just doesn’t add up to a solid middle-class life like it used to.

Today, Oklahoma is set to execute Tremane Wood even though a state panel recommended his life is spared
Tremane Wood is currently on death row, despite his older brother admitting to killing victim Ronnie Wipf in 2002.

Next week, he will have the chance to make his case for mercy.

Oklahoma's attorney general is fighting to ensure his death anyway.

Thomas Jefferson was 44 when he started in creeping on 14-year-old Sally Hemings. And Sally, who was enslaved, shared a father with Martha Wayles Jefferson—Tom's wife.

He's been dead literally centuries and the US refuses to reckon squarely with what this meant for definitions of American greatness

“I yipped about inclusion”

Yeah, we know, we all knew all along that a lot of these leaders were just yipping about inclusion and didn’t mean it. No wonder they were so mad about Claudine Gay when they used to have this guy who says women are low iq and sexual harassment isn’t a big deal in charge

All you have to do is poll a random group of adult women to see how many were abused in childhood to know we've already demonstrated this. Epidemic levels.
We already know conclusively that abusing adult women doesn’t violate our norms. We are well on our way to demonstrating just as conclusively that sexually abusing girls doesn’t violate our norms, either.
Social norms are unwritten rules backed by social sanctions. If child sexual abuse isn’t met with strong, collective consequences, we don’t have a social norm against it.

Black thinkers & activists have been saying the same thing for more than 150 yrs: the rights, laws, & programs passed by Congress are meaningless if white Americans remain unwilling to enforce them.
After the police chief in Columbia, SC murdered a Black resident in cold blood, an anonymous Black woman wrote to the govt in May 1866: "Our friends in Congress are wasting time & breath, & all the bills they may pass, will do us no good, unless men are sent here that will see these laws enforced."

As the “Universities” here I would just like to assure you all we are not teaching anyone how to carry out human sacrifice of tech founders. Just the critical thinking that comes with studying communication, sociology, and political science. Bless.
