Destroying the social security administration will set off a revolution that these right wing phonies will be sorry they provoked. I remember Bush tries to do privatize it, but he had the audacity to try to persuade folks; Trump just went ahead and did it -- he doesn't know the meaning of "fight."

Are the Democrats and their allies flooding the airwaves and talk shows with outrage as to what the Trump administration did to Zelensky and Ukraine yesterday? That we are now apparently subsidiary of Russia w/ Russian assets in the White House? If they don't, Americans will forget in three days.

did anyone see that SNL show? what a fabulous show with an incredibly talented cast -- the old and the new mixed seamlessly. Lorne Michaels must be some sort of producer genius.

"A Complete Unknown" is based on Elijah Wald's excellent book; part of the film tried to capture Seeger's desire to create a balance to the commercialization of pop music (impossible if not undesirable); the film reminds me of a line from "Joey," he "was on the outside of whatever side there was."

I thought the film was quite good, capturing Dylan's contrarian essence, if that's possible; also some of the contradictions at the heart of the '60s folk revival; the director conflated some historical moments, but it's a movie. i have to think a bit more, but that's my immediate response.

what does raising the debt limit or ceiling mean? The rhetoric is usually about gov't spending, but the debt ceiling has nothing to do with that. When they say "raising the debt limit" they mean meeting the level of spending Congress has already passed. That is paying the debts already accrued.

the first in an irregular series as to why Trump is dangerous:
(reinforcing the obvious: everything is a lie --everything); but giving RFK, Jr. a national platform to disseminate anti-vaxxing propaganda (a movement that is well funded & well organized, btw) is a decision that will live in infamy.

I supported AOC for the oversight panel position; she didn't get it this time, but there are other bridges to cross for this talented, smart and progressive leader. her time will come and it can't come soon enough.

just like the scotus judges who lied to get confirmed, RFK, Jr. is lying about vaccines -- but then again, the entire new administration -- from the top on down -- do nothing but lie. it's overwhelming -- and that's their point.

the blame game continues; waiting for commentaries, poll #s, and feedback from news sources, but one thing seems clear: a fragmented media environment did not boost Trump's lies, villainy and policies on social media platforms enough.
