@brenttoderian.bsky.social A decade ago I relocated to London after 18 years in NYC. Had I moved from another part of the US, where I wasn’t already accustomed to walking and public transit, I don’t think the transition would have been as easy. I’ve never needed to own a car 🚗

This was a response to those who broke into a university building and vandalized it. My understanding is that holding of degrees is temporary until further investigation can take place.

@brenttoderian.bsky.social The tweet posted is an over simplification of what has been happening. The University Judicial Board issued expulsions, temporary degree revocations, and multi-year suspensions for students involved in the April 2024 occupation of Hamilton Hall on Thursday.

Lastly, I don’t think academics are eager to study artificial intelligence replacing advanced degree positions, as it suggests they themselves could be at risk of job loss, especially in a “publish or perish” environment.

You make a good distinction that you’re looking for people with an advanced degree being replaced by LLMs. From my experience most studies are still looking at more entry level roles (those to be replaced first by technology). For example, this study out of MIT. mitsloan.mit.edu/ideas-made-t...
