4/ These differences aren't just procedural -- they affect how individuals access and experience services, what roles and responsibilities staff hold, and the health and social care system at large.

◾ The extent to which assisted dying is publicly funded and integrated into broader health and care services
◾ Which staff can be involved, and the training they require
◾ The processes people must go through to give consent
◾ How compliance is monitored

2/ A wealth of international evidence has already been drawn on to inform the debate in the UK, but it has tended to focus on a narrow set of countries or issues regarding eligibility.

Part of why we did this work is to highlight the broader operational and practical differences that also matter.

Great question and something we’ve been looking at closely at @nuffieldtrust.bsky.social with more research coming out this year — and not only Denmark, but other systems that have had similar efforts to reorient care towards the community
