The second picture isn't just safer and prettier, it's also more environmentally and financially sustainable! Isn't that what we want for all our cities?
Halvemaansteeg 1979 and 2023. Car and more cars replaced by bikes and trams, this area is now completely car free. A reminder to Politicians everywhere; design the roads in your city for the traffic you want.
