I woke up in the middle of the night thinking about the cost of that one fighter jet that slipped off the carrier deck, and how many NSF grants that a single fancy killing machine could have funded.
Staff members at the US National Science Foundation (NSF) were told on 30 April to “stop awarding all funding actions until further notice,” according to an email seen by Nature.

“Intellectual diversity” is such a funny way to frame it. It’s just DEI for white, cis, straight, middle-class+, able-bodied, neurotypical men (and some women). It’s about making sure these people can succeed regardless of how intelligent or qualified. Not a new thought, but also not merit-based.
It's not just Columbia, it's not just DEI, and it's not just biomedical research: Trump's war on universities has frozen crucial science at institutions like Princeton, Cornell, Northwestern, and more. Our @nature.com team spoke to some of the affected scientists: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
