In 1901 dad's Granny Mai (Mary) was 7. No sign of the mother because her father had banished her back to her hometown of Bradford after he accused her of cheating on him. Mai only got to see her once again in Wynne's Hotel. Always think of it when I pass.

A tragicomic view of exile -- and flawed parenting -- through the eyes of a young girl. Loved it.
