I’m in DC for work for the rest of the week. I have several lunches and dinners with colleagues and a reception tonight to attend and now that I’m here, I don’t feel like doing any of it.

I got home from work late tonight b/c of a work event, and when I got home I found someone had run over my mailbox. There were pieces all down the block. My front camera didn’t trigger, it’s in the view, but didn’t catch whatever hit it. I wonder if I get mail delivered if the box is on the ground?

most on the nose “he’s on a mission from god” reference in recorded history
What's from Chicago, hates Illinois Nazis, and is holy as fuck?

It's the Pope in 1982.

I hit the double commuting jackpot yesterday. On the train on the way to work was a very smiley golden retriever. On the subway on the way home was some kind of doodle that laid down right near my feet. The unexpected doggos made me so happy.

I’m free, I was dismissed from jury duty. Ultimately, I did not get picked for this jury, but I kind of wish I did because I would like to see how this case is decided. I did my civic duty though and am free from state for at least 6 years and federal for at least two now.

Republicans thought they had a permanent hold over young men. They didn't.

Spanberger wins men 18-29 by 14%, Sherrill by 10%, and Mamdani by a stunning 40%.

I gotta give it up to the writers tho. If NYC elects a Muslim mayor on the day Dick Cheney died, that is one hell of a slow played story arc. Every time you want to fire 2025's writers room they give you a little narrative resolution as a treat.

NYC is going to have the world's biggest media-manufactured crime panic in history the second Mamdani is elected. They aren't even going to wait until he is inaugurated. Whether or not you like the guy, you need to start preparing now for the fire hose of disinformation that is about to activate.

Absolutely fucked. Teen Vogue had real political coverage with a backbone & Condé just gutted it. bsky.app/profile/lexi...
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

Since we have now fallen back an hour and it’s dark at 4:30, time for hibernation mode. Sweatshirts, cozy blankets, soup, hot chocolate, and no leaving the house after 5:00 pm.

One of the many not fun things about getting older is when the weather turns cold all my joints, but especially the hips, knees and shoulders, get so stiff and achey. Booooo

I made it through the biggest week-long training conference I oversee each year. Sessions from 9:30 to 5:30 M-F, receptions in the evening on T and W and team dinner on Th night. It went great and I’m super happy.

I had an appt to get my hair cut & highlights today, but my hairdresser had to reschedule last minute for an emergency. I was so looking forward to having my hair cut/highlighted though. It’s so grown out & all my grey is showing. Now I have to wait until Wed. No one look at my hair until Wed night.

I got my Covid booster yesterday. My arm is so sore and like every year when I get boosted I have swelling in my armpit. It doesn’t hurt, but it feels strange. It’s like I’m carrying around a grapefruit under my arm and my arm won’t lay right. 🍊

I loathe having to get a new car when the lease ends. I sat there and discussed prices and the guy goes away and comes back and is like congrats we can do X for you and it’s $50 more a month than what we just talked about and bait and switched to last years model.

I was only on vacation Wednesday to Friday last week before Labor Day weekend, but coming back to work this week feels like I’ve been on vacation for a month. I don’t like it.

Wore a white shirt, which I almost never do, and within three hours of having it on spilled food down the front. It is brand new too, first time wearing it. This is why 90% of my wardrobe is black and grey.
