I agree with both unions and employers that any incidents or concerns should be reported directly to the police. Wes Streeting is absolutely right to say that NHS staff are facing a resurgence of the kind of “ugly” racism we thought had been left behind in the 1970s and 1980s.

No one should ever feel threatened or intimidated when they go to work — least of all those who devote their lives to caring for others. NHS staff already face extraordinary pressures.
Our health service simply cannot function without the dedication and compassion of its workforce.

Reliable services like these not only help us get to work, school, and vital medical appointments on time, but also reduce congestion on our roads and cut carbon emissions, supporting a greener, healthier community. (3/3)

I recently wrote to the National Lottery in support of the church’s bid for funding to carry out much-needed restoration work, and I’m delighted that they’ve awarded £225,636 to help make these vital repairs happen. (2/2)

- NC19 which would phase out investments in fossil fuels
- Amendment 2, which would require that investments of the local government pension scheme should be compliant with the UK’s duty not to aid or assist serious breaches of international law (2/2)

We are lucky to have them - but in time, they too will need care themselves.
We live in a relatively safe country, with low rates of crime, so this sort of thing is especially shocking. In due course we will discover what happened and, hopefully, why.

Parental leave must be seen as an investment in caring – an investment in creating happier families and a fairer society. We must look to our neighbours in Europe, where this is how they view parental leave. (3/3)
