Morning Tom! Exciting day in our household yesterday as four blackbird chicks fledged from a next in a water hopper just by our back door. I’ve never seen a fledging before. Hard to spot but there are two in the last photo. First pic was Wednesday.

I haven’t yet made it to the Belfast Book Festival but as an old girl of Victoria College (in its Lower Crescent days) I couldn’t resist a tote bag last time I was at the arts centre, and on Sunday I enjoyed carrying it around Hay. Discovered it’s sturdy enough for quite a lot of hardbacks!

They’ll turn up. In the meantime, today I sang in a Come and Sing Crucifixion at St Michael’s Tenbury - my first time singing there, and it really didn’t sound like a Come and Sing, it was terrific, with Roger Judd playing & James Atherton conducting & singing the tenor solos.

At the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff to see Welsh National Opera’s new production of Benjamin Britten’s Peter Grimes. Cast includes Nicky Spence as Grimes and Sarah Connolly as Auntie.
