Then he is contrasted by a 40 year old human whose been in a life of crime and adventure since he was a teen. The elf is being taught by a man under half his age but massively his senior in life experience. It's interesting!

I think his peasant life helps sell it though. He zones out through his farm work each day, apprentices under a healer who is in no hurry to teach him and spends the rest of his time amongst friends. The whole society is built around such long lives.

I thought the book 'Athyra' did this well. The ~100 year old teenaged elf thinks like a teenager (girls, short term consequences, parent expectations) but when someone really sits down and talks to him he is wise and has a deep philosophy as he's had a lot of time to think through it.
