It's been such a day, having my kid trying to come out to her grandma, but being utterly ignored (she tried 3 times, each time with more emphasis), ivermectin cures cancer stories, an onslaught of noise (near panic attack), and I forgot half of my stuff at work because I got distracted. Super.

If we don't tackle the climate crisis, there's absolutely no point in doing anything else.

This is the most serious, extinction level, issue we face and yet it barely gets a mention in the news

WAKE THE FUCK UP

Do it for your kids, you're not going to have to deal with the worst of it, they are😢

It's also wonderful to get to have a say in how you require things to be made and done, in a way that suits me and my needs, post-manufacturing.

Small changes can make the world of a difference in the process. Before the whole earplugs thing, I had no idea about the impact of those small things.

Once you deal with manufacturing, if you keep your eyes open, there are a lot of bits that can be optimised to make financial savings down the road, and I'm fascinated in the whole process.

Germany automatically files you officially as disabled, which gives you an official percentage of disability on file, which is of course not great for certain stuff,

Anyways, it was interesting to hear from her about them both having sensory issues related to sound, the same day I was struggling.

K told me that my niece L was diagnosed with an auditory processing disorder that may or may not be part of a future AuDHD diagnosis, something she is currently not seeking out.

I did post a link to the science somewhere else, too.

I'm not disagreeing with you. 🤷

Shoot the messenger, hun.

Well, of course it's their fault, but it seems this is simply how our brains are wired. So in a sense, there's little you can do about that subconscious side of it other than work with it as good as we can.

It's not their fault, it's also why it's easier to shoot a soldier in a uniform with a helmet, than a civilian.

We inadvertently dehumanise certain looks, can't help it.

"I didn't even see the cyclist!"

There are entire papers written on this, especially around cycling.

Very Auckland to have these humungous gaps around areas that actually need access. 🤷

Really fascinating, very much a "you win some, you lose some" sort of scenario.
December 1, 2025 at 7:13 PM
There's some interesting research on that about a number of adjacent topics, about how helmets make us look like an "entity" and somehow don't click as "human" anymore, so other traffic participants don't care about you a much as if when they do see you as a human.

Don't give me "once the new train opens..."

That'll take longer than walking. 🤣
