I dont think we "need" anything. It's not like the game is doing badly on any metric.

Ah yeah, cases not boxes. Either way thats still a big increase in supply. It might at least stabilize the price.

I would say give it time. Even at upshifted rarity there will be a lot more CnCs to go around and it also gives new players the chance of opening one. I think its way too early to judge if this was the right move or not. If 100'000 boxes get opened that would still be 18'000 new CnCs worldwide
