Some of you may be interested in this symposium on 'truth-telling' (in its many guises) being held at the University of Melbourne this week. Students and mob can attend for free, Unimelb staff get a 20% discount, and unwaged scholars get a 75% discount. I will be there for some of Friday's sessions!

Had to shoot from the hip with this - I tried to think about it as little as possible. Too many white men, but hey, that's the dominant theme of the last 200 years of Australian history I guess. What are some bangers I omitted?

I hate that there's this big ugly fence around the Queen Victoria monument! As a resident of Melbourne, I have the right to drink beers next to it or smoosh my face up against it or do whatever I like!! Tear it down!!!!

This may not mean anything to anyone else, but they've cut down this big old tree in Cussonia Court (out front of the Old Arts building at Melbourne Uni). I don't even know what species it was, but it blossomed beautifully in spring. I'm genuinely a bit grief-stricken 😭

Cross-posting this gorgeous wildlife map of Melbourne - published in the Age in 1989 - from Tw*tter. Such a cool find! I would've gone absolutely bonkers for this as a kid.
