Music industry professional traveling the world to argue with concert promoters. When I'm home I design, build, and repair ribbon microphones and arcane studio electronics. For half of each odd numbered month I am a smartass about Sumo wrestling.
I'm in the process of refurbing this Oberheim DX drum machine. Gonna sell it when I'm done but right now I can't decide if I should add a MIDI retrofit or not. Leaning toward not but if anyone who is more about hardware drum programming has an opinion either way, I'd love to hear it.

Watching the first couple episodes of Pluribus. Don't want to get too deep into spoilers here but it's interesting that the recording system on airforce one consists of an 8 channel behringer mixer, a 2 channel behringer compressor, and a 6Gb Roland hard disc recorder from 1996.

Not saying it was my endorsement that put him over the finish line but I'm sure it helped sway the late middle aged music industry / record nerd / sumo fan / aged misanthrope demographic.

Bamboo spoons are better than plastic spoons but you still can't cook dope in them so I'm not sure these are gonna catch on in a lot of places.

I can't recall who said it back on Twitter years ago but I'll repeat it here: the proper response to any conor friedersdorf tweet is to say his name in Homestar Runner's voice and then scroll past whatever idiotic shit he said.

At least he died as the sowing/reaping/this fucking sucks meme.

Brief work stoppage today as I had to evict a juvenile rattlesnake from my workshop. Pour one out for that little guy because I killed it with a fuckin' rock.

I've seen the sun rise over Mt. Fuji, stars reflected in Lake Tekapo, and the Aurora Borealis over Iceland but I don't think I've ever seen anything as beautiful as this:

We foolishly thought getting a second pug would provide opportunity for them keep each other occupied. In practice, I now have to come up with twice as much lap space otherwise the one left out becomes the whiniest little bitch on earth.

Shout out to that time 6 years ago today when the lighting rig at whatever bullshit festival we were playing caught on fire during soundcheck.

One of the more accurate on-screen depictions of Italian-americans. We are always trying to help people bone down with each other and that is my favorite thing about us.

Spiritually speaking, I did not expect the enlightenment necessary for me to enter the Nine Palace Grid would come from the instruction manual for a cheap Chinese oscilloscope yet here we are.

Pronouncing "covid" the same way Mark Borchardt pronounces "Coven".

The lady sitting next to me on my flight this morning was being really nosy and watching whatever I was doing on my phone or tablet so I decided she and I should watch Begotten together. Judging by the way she sprinted out of her seat the second we got to the gate I suspect she didn't like it.

My friend Will gave me this record. The front cover is a PCB you can use to build a synthesizer. Do I indulge my synth nerd tendencies and build it or do I indulge my record nerd tendencies and leave it untouched for collecting purposes? I migh try to track down a second one so I can do both.

I designed and built a 24 channel passive summing mixer. I definitely made a mess of those holes (not in the fun way) when I cut the enclosure. Ch1 through Ch20 are "odds left, evens right" while ch20 through Ch24 are routed to both sides so you can have mono kick, snare, bass, and vocals.

#5 I'll Drown On This Earth by Cold Gawd. I bought this because I suspected a band with a name this bad would probably make a good record. I knew nothing about the band prior. Turns out, it's a great record. Super heavy shoegaze for lying on the floor and listening at high volume.
