Lukewarm take: Films don't have to Say Things to justify their existence
November 27, 2025 at 6:44 PM
The Avatar films have nothing to say other than 'colonialism bad' but I cannot deny I really enjoy watching them
November 27, 2025 at 6:43 PM
It's a joke. I liked it!

In other words... Must remember that this is not twitter! 😅

All good. I'm not Jewish but my wife is, so can get a bit riled up sometimes... Not that your post deserved it, and sorry again for the jumping the gun
November 3, 2025 at 5:38 PM
Apologies, I saw your post and didn't see what it was a reply to! Makes perfect sense
November 3, 2025 at 5:30 PM
What exactly does him being Jewish have to do with him being weird and delusional?

Maybe because they make greater profits doing regular checkups than actually fixing teeth

There is a simple solution to lack of info about that artist - make a Wikipedia page! Obviously!

There was a recent study that modeled different forms of network, and it turns out that all social networks do in fact regress to Twitter! It's a fundamental behaviour of all possible social media platforms! Yay!

Social media toxicity can't be fixed by changing the algorithms
Experiments involving AI chatbots interacting on a simulated social media platform suggest efforts to design out antagonistic user behaviour will not succeed

One of the sociological definitions of 'the state' is 'the sole institution that can legally commit violence'

What did you call me?

Unfortunately populism and compromise are mutually exclusive - at least when it comes to comms

AFAIK there is nowhere near enough waste to supply the airline industry and never will be

Very happy you replied, thought you might think me a Total Weirdo 😅

As a recent first-time father, I can confirm that the smell of a newborn baby's head (I'm talking fresh out the womb) is indescribably glorious. Like 10x better than all the other smells. Fresh bread and petrichor smell like shit compared to Newborn Baby Scalp

Absolutely, I wasn't disagreeing with you just wanted to add an perspective not induced in your post

I am massively anti AI for 99% of its uses for the same reasons you are. But in the specific case of technical summarisation for dyslexic users I have been persuaded that (environmental ethics aside) it's a very useful tool that isn't sucking the soul of humanity.
August 11, 2025 at 2:41 PM
It's very easy (and fun) to think all AI users are idiots, but of course she is meticulously reviewing the output and yes it is still much faster than writing it herself, otherwise she wouldn't bother

And for whatever reason she's found that in practice hallucinations are pretty much nonexistent
August 11, 2025 at 2:40 PM
Agree, but not when it comes to technical summarisation. My wife is dyslexic and uses AI at work to turn her extensive notes into prose. All her value and skill (writing the notes in the first place) remains, she simply no longer has to have to spend hours trying to make it readable.
