📣 Our new paper is out in Physical Review Fluids!

Using a Cauchy-number-based nondimensional framework, we uncover the scaling laws governing deformation and unsteady load alleviation in plunging airfoils with flexible trailing edges.
The paper is open access!

📣 Our new paper is out in Experiments in Fluids! By introducing a grooved wing-tip design, we successfully mitigated the tip vortex. Up to ~40% pressure recovery was achieved at the vortex core. A collaboration between @eng.cam.ac.uk, TUAT, and Edinburgh.

Passive control of wing-tip vortices through a grooved-tip design - Experiments in Fluids
Abstract This paper investigates the characteristics and control of tip vortices generated by a finite wing, focusing on the impact of the novel grooved-tip designs. Tip vortices can lead to flow loss...

WaterLily 1.4 is out! github.com/WaterLily-jl...
Biggest updates to our pure @julialang.org flow solver since 1.3:
1. Ability to add explicit turbulence modelling
2. Easier flow visualization with @makie.org
3. Even faster CPU performance

📣New paper alert! Our new paper in Experiments in Fluids (@springer1842.bsky.social) shows the vortex force map (VFM) method is an excellent technique in experimental fluid mechanics to estimate unsteady forces from snapshot PIV 🌀
It's open access!
