A rapid, some may even say panicked, return to the hounds after Cherriman saw our drone operator.

What's in the boxes, guys?

These gentlemen masked up quickly when they saw us, but not quickly enough.

We can’t be certain that no animals were harmed yesterday, but we did the best we could in inclement weather conditions with very poor visibility.

See you next time, Shropshire Hunt.

The hounds moved off west, towards Pulverbatch, and as we toured the area afterwards we came across small groups of bedraggled field riders heading back to the meet to pack up.

Cherriman’s face dropped when he saw our drone operator and a minute or two later he and the field reappeared and headed back up the byway at a rate of knots. Shortly afterwards his horn could be heard calling the hounds to him. Maybe the recent incident in the Lake District was playing on his mind?
November 16, 2025 at 5:41 PM
Convicted criminal huntsman Daniel Cherriman appeared with a small number of field riders at the bottom of a byway leading onto a C-road between Wilderley Hall and Pulverbatch, and they turned right towards Pulverbatch, away from the sound of the hounds.

Hounds were heard speaking early in the afternoon, around a covert between Church Pulverbatch and Wilderley Hall (SJ 43276 02286, ///froth.boxer.establish) and monitors deployed on foot and launched our drone which showed the hounds being cast into the covert while riders waited on the track.

Hunt support was noticeably as thin on the ground as field riders, & we saw the same bemused-looking people driving around on several occasions. A few chatted to us & told us they were looking for the hunt & had no idea where they were going. Surely the trail map would have clarified that for them?
November 16, 2025 at 5:41 PM
During our careful exodus, however, a pair of the hunt’s charm ambassadors decided it was their job to block us in with their car while accusing us of “videoing their kids” (none of whom we saw, let alone videoed) then get out and start verbally abusing our driver while we tried to leave.

Also in attendance were at least three quads, with two terriermen on each. Does the BHSA advice on not using terriermen on trail hunts no longer apply, or was this something other than a trail hunt?

The combined might of the former North and South Shropshire hunts appeared to have managed to amass a paying field of fewer than 20 riders, most of whom cheerfully thanked us for getting out of their way as they passed us.
November 16, 2025 at 5:41 PM
The landowner spoke with us and politely asked us to leave; we apologised and, with his permission waited for the field to pass us safely before starting to do so.

It would be lovely to have a reasoned conversation with him some time.

Unfortunately on this occasion he was correct and we realised we had inadvertently driven down a road onto private property.

At just before 11.30 we met the Shropshire Hunt and were immediately approached by Paul ‘Broken Record’ Davis who seems only capable of repeating the screeched two-word mantra of “You’re trespassing! You’re trespassing” when we see him (usually when we’re on public rights of way).
