Keep seeing people asking this question! The college students who were protesting the genocide in Gaza 2023-24 are mostly either still protesting w/less media coverage or going through lengthy disciplinary processes and school investigations and lawsuits punishing their protesting.

Hope this helps!

A lot progressive tech is in academia or non profits and convenings are oriented towards expertise, not power bldg. @meredithmeredith.bsky.social warned of critical academia industrial complex: all critique, no power building.

It is, and because there's a bit of a disconnect between the critical progressive tech folks and left-wing organizing in general (which we are going to need to close very quickly)
one thing I've been pondering this week is whether genAI is inherently an oligarchic project and—if so—why there isn't a stronger leftist movement against AI as a plan to take away jobs
The plan is to crash the economy to suppress wages.

The thing about fight like a picket line is that it forces you to choose sides. That's what the song is about! You're with the striking workers or you're with the bosses and the cops. Empirically, things are more complicated. But politically, you have to choose--because the picket draws a line.

If Luigi joined the IDF and massacred 50,000 Palestinian children, John Fetterman would clap and cheer. If he defrauded cancer patients en masse, maybe Biden would pardon him. Could go on and on and on
"Terrorism" is a socially constructed term. If Luigi murdered a homeless Black man, the US would call him a hero. If he killed poor/sick Americans every day via insurance policy, they'd say "what about his family?" What’s happening is disgusting & anyone with a brain sees right through it

I made a shareable version of our "AI workers' inquiry for University Workers and Students." We used this as part a workshop last month. Feel free to re-use, improve, and reach out if you wanna compare notes on running a similar workshop at your uni! docs.google.com/document/d/1...
