It's a rogue-like mode, and the operators you can use depends on your choices and luck. There are also multiple different endings/paths you can unlock, albeit that also requires luck and choices.

The old operators are now in a banner of their own now so if you're pulling in the standard banner you won't be able to find some of the still relevant old favorites such as Saria, Thorns, etc.

From what I can tell, you still have a good spread of operators to clear normal difficulty content but you might want to pick up or train up another defender if possible.
