I had such a wonderful time at PAX Unplugged this year! Indie liteRPGs, cryptids galore, panels about monster design and the definition of evil... amazing experiences, interesting people, and incredible stories to be had; such a vibe. 🥰

Will I be going to PAX Unplugged 2026? You bet your tail I am!

It is time! @persephonearethusa.bsky.social, @eapendragon.bsky.social, and this bear are PAX-bound, hitting up Unplugged! Tabletop shenanigans galore, panels to teach us how to make our imaginations come to life, and spending time amongst our folk.

@officialpax.bsky.social and Philly, here we come!

So many good specimens! I absolutely LOVE mushrooming, and giving mushroom tours sounds like a dream come true.

I know, I know... I'm such a druid. I can't help it! 😭

Heheh, good old TTRPG memories. The absurdity makes the best stories.

Oh, this? It's cheese. Just cheese. It isn't a mimic at all. I tested it and--OH GOOD LORD!

Makes me think of the legendary gazebo. The gazebo that echoes in the halls of D&D lore for centuries...

Verizon: "May I ask why you have decided to cancel your line with us?"
Shin: "I mean... sure, if you must."

Paying $75/mo. to get spammed by LLMs and politicians. What a joke.

I'm turning into such a hermit... heh. To find me, you have to take the secret path in the woods to the mystical grove.

You're good with 10. Microsoft made A.I. mandatory in 11 without an opt out and is closing doors on workarounds as they crop up.

According to their press release, the goal is to have it make changes to your environment that it "thinks you want or need" with priveleges and access to your camera/mic.

*Gives a deep sigh, wondering what happened to the world he used to love.*

Shin's 2025 Reading List:

- Detective Trigger, a detective noir to get you in the dystopia mood.
- The Builders, to twist it grimdark.
- 1984, to actualize the dystopia.
- Complete Lovecraft, when peering into unfathomable infinite trumps dystopia.
- GEB, to try to understand what it all means...

I have returned from the camping! Tents, campfires, nature sounds, bathing in the river, eating good food, keeping good company, scribbling in a journal, and disconnecting from this ridiculous world to do bear things. A much needed reset to the brainsmeats.

What did you THINK I meant...? *Goofy burr face.*

Gonna soak some beans overnight to make some Brazilian (or Portuguese...? Correct me if I am wrong!) feijoada tomorrow! Cooking adventure, yay!

Such pork. Om nom.
July 25, 2025 at 11:32 PM
All righty, who wants to see my beans!? Gonna whip them out and let them soak, yeh!
July 25, 2025 at 11:32 PM
And it's gonna stay that way ya grubby little wanker, unless you fork over the cash for a new video card and processor!

Now stop reminding me, leave me be, and let me continue to do my silly little bear things in my silly little corner of the interwebs.

My friend's hauntingly gorgeous artwork that she had done recently.

If you are a fan of painting in oil/acrylic/watercolour, lighthouses, eldritch horrors, and cute frogs/toads/mimics/mothmen, then you should give her Patreon a look-see!

Without saying your age, who was your first animated crush?

Well, I... um... *blushy bear* He's just so nice and supportive and charming and happy, you know?

Little John set me on the path to be who I am today.

Some more info on the going's on for this bear:

Next week, @thegremlinsquad.stream is doing a charity event for Alzheimer's! I'll be doing a few streams myself to raise funds for and spread awareness of this devastating disease.

I'll be posting my schedule after I survive the weekend shifts.

Mmm... steamy goodness...

I haven't posted any food in a spell, so I figured I'd toss up a quick little adventure inspired to me by my love!

Toad in the hole! Yes, that is its actual name. Bangers baked in Yorkshire pudding. Quite delicius, and it was suggestdd to me that it goes great with gravy.

Om nom...

Your sketches are absolutely beautiful...

Also, I cerainly vibe with this! Reminds me of an art @greenfledgling.bsky.social did of me not too long ago... hehe.

Rawr!

The finishing touch was interesting; the sweet potato breaks up due to how soft it is and thickens the stew while you add the flour at the same time. Feels hearty, but for comfort food, is on the healthier side.

As for actual meals, sleuth;

Chimken stew, at the recommendation of my love!

Huge batch, so it was really good for meal prep. Quite flavourful! I may tweak a few things, add more spices and seasonings and the like, but a great foundation.

Someone: "Shin, you have been cooking for 2 hours, and it smells incredible! What are you making?"
Shin: "THIS..." <Holds Aloft The Glorious Liquid>

Port wine reduction. So delicious...

I'd classify that as a cooking adventure!

You know, sometimes a bear just wants steak and taters.

Top sirloin seared and butter-basted in cast iron and finished in the oven. Topped with shallots and baby portobellos pan-fried in butter and chianti and served with seasoned and cheesed roasted potatoes. A decent medium to medium-rare! 🤤

But Shin has gotten pretty good with risotto consistency! Maybe not good enough for Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen, but... at least the mise en place is sufficient for Anne Burrell!
