Tests do not give us the whole picture. Creativity, critical thinking, and REAL-WORLD skills are skills we need to be nurturing. #assessment #education

Things on my mind (education): Parent involvement isn't just about attending conferences. It's about showing up for your kid, however you can. We need to support ALL families, not judge them. #parenting #community

I don't know who needs to hear this, but you don't need to justify your reading preferences and choices to anyone. Audiobooks count as reading. Also, you don't have to finish books you don't enjoy. Don't read to impress, read for yourself. Life's too short, love yourself, ok?

Thread: Masking and Missed Diagnoses in Autistic Girls 🧵

“She presented as a happy, talkative student with socially modulated eye contact.”

This line from my daughter’s evaluation hit hard. I wondered a long time if I might be autistic, but I dismissed it bc… I make “good eye contact.”

When men rage, they blow and shoot things up and start wars.

When women rage, we create.

We knit, do embroidery and cross stitch. We create new things ... while we figure out how to fix the broken things.

✨ Building My Legacy as an Autistic Woman ✨

Living with autism and ADHD isn’t easy—it’s a disability that shapes how I see and experience the world. Some days are heavy, and the challenges are very real. But within those challenges, I’ve found strength, creativity, and a deep sense of purpose.

Exactly. Autism is a disability, full stop. It’s not a quirky ‘superpower’ or a social media aesthetic. Calling it what it is doesn’t diminish autistic people; it highlights the need for real accommodations.
Autism is a disability.

That's it, that's the post.

Neurodivergence is so fascinating scientifically because on the one hand you have endless bullshit from quacks who think autism is when a child acts like Spock, and then on the other you have mind blowing results like "oh by the way autism is correlated with connective tissue disorders"

Have you ever felt like you’re wearing a mask—not for fun, but to survive? Many autistic girls and women hide their true selves to fit societal norms. It’s a survival strategy, but it’s exhausting. Let’s talk about why masking happens and how we can help. 🧵👇 #Masking #AutisticGirls
