AI will be poison for journalism. No serious journalist can depend on it.
The prevailing argument in favor of using AI in media is that it lowers the cost for local news and under-served communities.

But the core of that argument is fundamentally that we should paper over a loss of institutions with a deeply inferior and unreliable product.

People deserve better!

This might be really helpful for many folks out there.

Remember, when it comes to riding bikes for transportation in the winter, “there’s no bad weather, just bad clothes.”

(And bad infrastructure and maintenance decisions from city hall)
Hey winter cyclists: the smartest thing I've done after threatening to do it for too many years was actually write down what to wear based on temperature. This helped immensely last year, and winter is coming 🥶

A bad day for Canada, and therefore the world.

Ontario (population 16 million, 40% of the country) has passed new legislation prohibiting bike lanes that take a lane from cars.

An escalation from Bill 212, which required municipalities to get approval.
A sad day for cyclists. Bill 60 - which prohibits the conversion of motor vehicle lanes to bike lanes (or any other prescribed purpose) - has passed Third Reading this morning which will kill various cycling projects in Toronto & across Ontario. #shame #BikeTO #BikeSky #TOpoli #ONpoli #VisionZero

You can start when they're 2 or 3 years old. They're accustomed to throwing themselves on the ground at that age.
Little known fact that every Canadian child will be pulled on the ice by a hockey stick before the age of 11.

NEW: One of Ukraine's most famous soldiers, Bohdan Krotevych, tells me why Commander in Chief Syrskyi must be replaced for Ukraine to win the war, why Azov still has a waiting list to join, and why the suggestion drones can replace infantry is "so stupid".

You could chat with the owners of 24 Sussex in Ottawa.
No.10 Downing Street is a building that sprawls backwards over four floors and has cranky heating, patchy phone signal and a basement with mice.

So for all its history, does the building itself undermine the work of the state?

Now is the time to double down on lowering barriers to routine childhood immunizations and ensuring Canadians have access to credible, science-based information.
