I handle workers comp claims for a living and one of the injured workers told me " I trust you" and " I feel safe with you". And I find I can't stop crying because honestly that's one of the nicest things anybody has ever said to me and I really needed that. I really needed to feel like I matter.

Why is it that I downplay my accomplishments but hyperfocus on my failures? Why the hell am I so hard on myself? Something I have been struggling with as of late.

" The substance" is one insanely fucked up movie with two amazingly good performances at its center. The movie it reminds me of the most? David Cronenberg's "The Fly". I'm still not sure I understand how this got a best picture nomination, though.
