Overall, we found very small and semi-consistent effects. I think a key takeaway from this adversarial collaboration is that strong claims about strong relations between ideology and belief rigidity are likely unwarranted.

Political extremism also predicted more belief rigidity, both on the left and the right. But, extreme rightists were more rigid than extreme leftists.

What did we find? In over 6,000 individuals, we found that general and social conservatism were weakly related to more belief rigidity. Economic conservatism had null relations with belief rigidity.

Nothing about this is okay. It’s more important now than ever to study false beliefs. We will figure out a way forward!
