Damned right.
"Trade policy must become central to the decarbonisation effort. It is one of the strongest levers available to foster a form of globalisation that rewards those who commit and penalises those who cling to fossil fuels." - @laurencetubiana.bsky.social

Given the decision on puberty blockers, I do want to note an objective fact that I think has been lost:

Eight MPs voted to keep conversion practices legal.

All were National MPs.

*Every single one* of the five who remained in Parliament after the 2023 election was given a Ministerial warrant.

So many people I respect in TVNZ but how is it possible for one news tonight to describe Mcskimming as merely having had an affair with a junior staffer or to report on all the devastation in south east Asia as a natural disaster with not a single mention of climate change as an underlying driver?

Sure be good for the country’s economy if all the people giving free ads to a foreign flatpack megacorp were giving as much airtime and money to local businesses employing skilled local people.

This piece by the EnableMe company on @NZStuff is very wrong:
buying a ‘retirement unit’ does not guarantee continuity of care. In fact, when at their most vulnerable, people are forced to move home - often to other places - and sell at the village’s leisure. www.stuff.co.nz/money/360902...

THis law is purely about voter suppression because National, ACT and NZ First can - and will - win again by a narrow margin in 2026 if the centre and left do not shut up and work together.
"The Ministry of Justice found 80.2 percent of submitters opposed the bill, with 0.5 percent supporting it."

In a shock move, NACTFirst heavy committee approves law that favours them even though voters hate it.
