Pleased to be on the CBS Evening News to discuss the toll Trump’s pardons have taken on those of us who were trapped on January 6th and still work on Capitol Hill today.

We’re in a dark period, but the work done over the last 4 years to bring accountability to Trump and the mob wasn’t in vain.
Anyone else gotten sick from the Rayburn sushi?

…as I type this, I see my glaring miscalculation.

If Marjorie Taylor Green hates DC as much as she’s indicating in today’s Oversight hearing, DC would have no objection to her resigning in protest.

Rep. Nancy Mace asking Mayor Bowser to define what a woman is:

“I’m a woman. Are you a woman?”

What is a birthing person?

“It’s a person who gives birth.”

God bless the DC officials who showed up on Capitol Hill today to be condescended to and lectured by members of Congress who are causing many of the problems they’re expected to solve. They’re true public servants.

RM Garcia is hilariously giving us a tour of all the crimes happening in DC. He brought out floor charts showing the White House, Commerce, and the Pentagon detailing exactly where the criminals are.

Law enforcement, take note.

Live from the DC hearing: Rep. Gosar is accusing DC of “aiding and abetting” criminals.

Now, “I’ve never felt safer in DC.” “Friendly National Guard troops patrolling the street.”

Mayor Bowser’s setting him straight.

The sponsor of the bill to eliminate DC's role in selecting our own judges doesn't understand how the DC courts work.

DC courts do, in fact, deal with all local matters, including traffic tickets.

DC laws should be written by people who know how DC works.

Rep. Higgins telling Stansbury her rhetoric evinces an elitist, condescending tone is hypocritical BS.

As if it’s not condescending to think you know how to govern DC better than DC residents do? You’ve been here 9 months, sir.

Republicans are really threatened by DC yard signs. Bizarre how often they reference them.
September 10, 2025 at 2:52 PM
We know it’s a terrible idea for leaders to have absolute power over people to whom they aren’t accountable.

That’s why America was founded!
Ok people, when you hear Republicans say today that the Constitution says “Congress has the power” to legislate for DC, remember:

Congress has the authority, *not* the duty, to legislate for DC.

DC, we face another tough week as Oversight moves to mark up 13 bills targeting us on Wednesday.

Congress may have the power to impose its will on us, but I won't make it easy for them.

I'll speak on every single bill and will forever defend DC’s right to govern itself.

DC, we shouldn’t be dealing with this. Since we don’t have a choice, know your rights.

✅You can film an arrest in public as long as you don’t interfere.
✅If LE asks you to step back, film yourself complying.
✅Use a passcode & don’t provide it w/o a warrant.
NEW: Wearing masks, no ID, unmarked & blacked out cars, refusing to say what agency they’re from and using profanity with any press & public nearby.

This was at 14th & R in Washington DC, this morning (Sunday).

What the hell is happening to the US?

I was pleased to support DC's defense of home rule by attending today's hearing in the lawsuit DC filed against the Trump Administration.

Although DOJ rightfully restored control of MPD to DC Police Chief Smith, we must pass the legislation I introduced to end the unlawful federalization of MPD.

1) Violent crime is horrific and unacceptable no matter where it occurs.

2) DC's violent crime rate is at a 30-year low.

3) Presidents have no authority to unilaterally take control of DC. Congress would have to pass a law, and I won't let the current effort get that far.
President Trump threatened to take federal control of D.C. again after a DOGE staffer known as “Big Balls” was injured in an attempted carjacking.

Trump has cast the Democratic-led capital as a place ruined by liberal policies.
Trump threatens federal takeover of D.C. after attack on DOGE worker
“If D.C. doesn’t get its act together, and quickly, we will have no choice but to take Federal control of the City,” Trump wrote Tuesday on Truth Social.

I am proud of this lady.
I will use every tool at my disposal to stop the riders in the bill text from becoming law, and I commit to reminding my fellow lawmakers across the aisle that D.C. residents deserve the same consideration as their own constituents at every opportunity.
In my career representing DC in Congress, I've rarely seen a DC appropriations bill as unreasonable and patronizing to the 700k+ DC residents as the one released today.

I’ve long been known as DC's Warrior on the Hill.

As in 2021, when I got the House to pass the #DCStatehood bill for the second time in history, DC has a warrior in Congress who not only fights back – I enjoy fighting back.

Guess who battled the NYT and won a correction?
June 13, 2025 at 2:16 PM
The story published by the NYT today has substantial factual problems, starting with getting my title wrong and continuing more consequentially throughout.

I’m working to get these issues corrected.

This piece is beneath the standards of the NYT I know and trust.

Congresswoman Norton will speak on the House floor twice today opposing 2/3 bills to overturn local DC laws the House is considering this week.

The bills were introduced by members elected to represent other districts.
The Senate passed a bill to fix the DC budget crisis caused by the CR 3 months ago. The House has refused to vote on that bill.

Instead, this week, it will vote on 3 bills to overturn DC policies enacted by officials that DC residents elected.

The condescension astounds.
