I know they have to eat too, but I’d rather our bird feeders not become a restaurant for this Cooper’s hawk that’s been hanging around. 😕

Finished the first draft of the libretto for Betrayal, and previously I’d already composed the first eleven scenes. Obviously the libretto will go through edits, as will the music, but this was a milestone for me today! 🙂

Also to be fair, I recently spoke about this (AI cover art for music) to a small group of new composers. To a person, they all agree with @posthuman.bsky.social 🙂
just so you know, if i'm browsing your bandcamp page and see you're using AI for your artwork, I'm probably gonna assume your music sucks and skip on to the next thing without listening.

Hi! I’m posting this a second (and final) time, just in case new followers have any ideas. Thank you for thinking about how to host this >1 gig file 🙂
Ideas wanted 🙂 I recently did a 90-minute perf. underscoring the 1922 silent movie “Nosferatu”. I’d like to share its recording, but at >1gig it’s way too big for #bandcamp. Any ideas on where else I might host it as one file? I don’t have a website. Thank you! 🙂 (maybe it doesn’t /need/ sharing? 🤔)

Happy to share I earned a commission to compose for a theater production already accepted into the Maryland One Act Festival. Work due mid-December. The piece is “Clean” by Audrey Cefaly (can’t find a social presence for her).

So happy (for myself) it was very easy to get back in the saddle. Am already up to converting the 6th scene. 🙂 #Dorico
Soon after the Finale users —> Dorico, I happily quickly learned enough to convert the overture and second piece in my work-in-progress. Went to pick it back up yesterday… have forgotten much of the #Dorico for lack of reinforced use. Back to it!

Very honest request: please curate a starter pack of artists willing to create cover art for free, $50 or less, or for exposure. Not being a jerk, I would love this and use it.
Why do you think everything costs a lot of money to get good results? It’s like punk and DIY record labels just passed you by or things like mobile phones and free editing apps exist?

To be fair, my music probably does suck. But still. Yes, I tried creating my own once (for Sideways Down) and was criticized (appropriately) for the mess of a result, because I suck at art design 🙂 (it has a new cover now, although not AI, FWIW). Was told the music deserved credible cover art. 😀
just so you know, if i'm browsing your bandcamp page and see you're using AI for your artwork, I'm probably gonna assume your music sucks and skip on to the next thing without listening.

Because use of one domain equates to skill in another?

Serious request: if you’re an artist or graphic designer willing to do my cover art for free, please DM me. I have three coming out in the next few months.

Periodic reminder that I am available for commissions! I write highly eclectic and detailed music and my absolute favorite part of composition is working in detail with performers to find the things they like doing on their instrument and exploring through myriad lenses 😊

I think the Cat’s Cradle string game (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat%27s...) from my childhood was merely a learning tool for untangling skeins of yarn as an adult. 😀

Today is the first of five rehearsals until our staged reading of the new work “A Christmas Carol for Edgar Allen Poe”! Looking forward to premiering several <5 minute works for the play. (Plus the rest of the sound design! Hoping the ghoul attack effect is acceptable 😉) #Theater #Poe
