I’ve noticed a disturbing trend within progressive/social justice circles in the last several years; it’s one of cruelty and of glorification of death and violence. Things that are antithetical to social justice work.

Toxic faith taught me that loving someone outside my faith was a sin.
Thank God I broke free and chose love anyway.

We were told that God was unchanging; He was consistency in a world that constantly bent and caved to society’s changing values. So to, we were taught, are the true believers. We must stand strong against the world, even to the point of death before ever sacrificing the absolute truth of God.
