Here's how the real two-tier Britain works:
1. Whatever Nigel Farage says, however stupid, is looped and discussed by the media, while left-wing voices are treated as noises off.
2. Tiny far-right protests get massive airtime, while 10s of 000s gathering for Palestine or green causes are ignored.🧵

This government made a political choice to make life harder for the sick and disabled.

Well done to those MPs who had the courage to speak up for the marginalised and put their constituents first.

That is what it means to serve the people.

1. Here are just a few of the ways in which Starmer’s Labour Party seems determined to alienate its voters and lose the next election. As they pile up, you have to keep pinching yourself and asking, “what the hell is it playing at?” 🧵

Our government is sleepwalking into climate catastrophe.

The facts about a planet facing climate disaster are clear. Why won’t this Labour government face them? | Jeremy Corbyn
Labour seems gripped by a form of denialism. The danger is real and incremental change won’t avert it, says Jeremy Corbyn, independent MP for Islington North

The UK windstorm season 2024/25 has seen a fairly active start (Bert, Darragh).

In the future we expect these storms to be more frequent and intense, but by how much?

Well in a new paper, we've tried to answer this...

Forced trends and internal variability in climate change projections of extreme European windstorm frequency and severity
This study provides an assessment of changes to European windstorm severity and frequency in a warming climate. The results show increases in storm average and aggregate severity for western Europe, ....

"without using a supercomputer", you say? Then what was used to make that precious training and validation dataset, ERA5?

This is not a criticism of AI models, but the way their advances are currently being reported www.nature.com/articles/d41...
