40-ish woman, background in biomedical science. Fond of manners, kindness, modesty and rational thinking. Oh, and genealogy. Chronically melancholic but not entirely cynical. 🏳️‍🌈+🏳️‍⚧️ safe; wanting a world where that goes without saying.
I'm sure that this is all completely unrelated to every far-right misogynist and celebrity sex-pest never-was suddenly identifying as trad-Cath and declaring the Pope to be "too woke".

Yuck, those headlines and first paragraphs.
Excuse me for forgetting just how bad the UK papers can get.

So if they're manufacturing hate against a group and not an individual, they can just say whatever they want? Frame it as they want?
No laws were ever implemented to prevent history repeating?

Pencils, paper and metre long senate ballot sheets that you can't even fully lay flat in the booth. Compulsory elections too, so no voting drives specifically designed to disproportionately bring out cults and hate groups. I wouldn't have it any other way in Australia.

Some mutual Australian follows are following this ostensibly-Australian transphobe account. Most of their posts are following the "but I'm a centre leftist" routine before going for the outright disinformation hate and bile.

Rainy Saturdays and wet feathers are apparently no laughing matter.

Thank you for a fascinating read into the preservation process!
I was wondering, is red rot related to the unusual colourful splotches I often see on the first pages of old leather-bound books that have been scanned? For example:

Bluesky doesn't support GIF images? Oh well, anyway this was the video which is even more strange.

Along with the prayer circle, seeing this man in New York squeakily yelling "I love you Donald!" was one of the most surreal and on-the-nose moments of Christian nationalism I'd ever seen in US politics. It really is quite shameless and, if I were a Christian myself, blasphemous.

It's tragic how history tends to repeat itself. The subject of these minutes of the Sligo Union board was my 3rd-great grandmother; the friends in Glasgow were her parents. Snatched off the streets and deported from her home of 10 years for the crime of being poor and Irish. #genealogy

Wow, Australia now too. It was below Threads yesterday. The upcoming state propaganda outlet formerly known as Twitter is sitting down at #90.

Scientists (famous for their vast riches) have spent years pleading, providing data and offering to talk these people logically through their research step-by-step. Conversely, Trump's media strategy has been to, and I quote, "flood the zone with shit".

"You poindexters aren't humble enough!"

I feel like I need to balance out any posts about unpleasant news and topics. So here's a kookaburra on the Hills hoist.

ABC will cover it soon I guess, now that they have permission. These days it's always follow, never lead.

Interesting quotes on the word "disgusting", as if that's just an opinion on a new yoghurt flavour and they'll let you decide. Newscorp well known for shying from an opinion in headlines.

You lazily try to find at least one picture on your phone to fill out your bland profile a bit, and the best you can find is a pelican on a lamp scratching itself like a dog. Good enough.
