I wouldn't say superman is a jerk, he tried being reasonable with the elite and they were the ones being assholes because instead of being smarter with handling threats the elite just brute force their way and recklessly endangered people only caring about their image.
I love this story, and consider it one of the best Superman comics you could ask for in modern times. Sure, Superman comes off as a jerk who can't accept the new way here, but to me, that's what's so special about it, in a harshly violent & cynical world, proving the point of optimism is tough.
Action Comics 775: In a story beloved by some, controversial to others, we see Superman faced with a wholly modern challenge, which is Superheroes that don't play by the rules. This story simply asks, What's so funny about Truth, Justice, & The American Way?

Following the Threadnaught all those years ago taught me two things:
1) Everything about the then-ongoing Vic Mignogna case via filings and the like

Between the Doug Walker cameo, attempting to get Chris Chan, and now the co-creator's super Dickinson and dismissive response to the hate mob my friend received over an issue she took with a joke on the show, nah, fuck Smiling Friends. I'm not watching or supporting anything from it going forward.

Also there’s nothing wrong with liking tropes. Thats why fanfiction is so popular. But yeah, actual complete stories cannot be simplified into a trope. You can enjoy both but also understand where to separate the two.
