This is an amazing review, and it took me to goodreads where I usually avoid my own books but in this case, well, I'm crying in a good way.

This is what I love about being a book critic. I read 2 books recently that were uncomfortable experiences. Digging into why I felt that way and what the author might be trying to do helped me come to a better understanding of each.
i'm not holding anyone's hand when i say this, but when a book's goal is to make you feel uncomfortable and then it succeeds in doing so, that doesn't make it problematic. that's the book delivering on its promise.

not everything is a comfort read.

Happy birthday to this mismatched crew! Starstruck might be my favorite thing I’ve yet written. If forged family and fuck-ups and regrets and a gay radish sound like they might be your favorites too, I hope you get a chance to check the book out.

LOTERÍA is my thesis from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

I began writing it in 2008.

I self-published it in 2012.

Polis Books published it in 2023.

Now, its home is with Union Square & Co. / Hachette Books.

It’s a short story collection of Latine folklore, legend & myth.
