Finally, Dr. Gina Henze introduced a gender-sensitive perspective on stress: with common stress-inducing tasks like the TSST being more male-oriented, we need to develop female-oriented as well as gender-neutral stress paradigms!

Prof. Tom Bschor spoke on the health disparities for men, including earlier overall mortality and higher rates of completed suicides - and the need for gender-sensitive prevention strategies.

Prof. Silvia Krumm showed data on the association between different types of masculinity and depression: those high on traditional masculinity values are at increased risk for depressive disorders and have limited resources for coping.

Excited to speak at DGPPN at noon today! While it is usually a mostly female audience in sessions on sex/gender aspects in mental health, I am curious to see if that is different in today’s symposium on men’s health.
I am also quite curious to hear the other talks!

On my way home from the last weekend of a female talent promotion program, I was honored to participate in - with lots of love letters from my peers travelling along with me. 💕

Thrilled to see that sex-&gender-sensitive perspectives have arrived in keynotes! In 1 of many examples Prof. Halligan points out that sex differences in PTSD seem to emerge in adolescence. Interestingly, there seem to be no diff. for those with highest trauma load #ESTSS2023
