I'm trying to learn how to make games.

Also, while we're doing updates. I have decided to try Godot for a while and see how I like it. I've heard nothing but good things about it. Gamemaker is great for someone starting out like me, but it can be clunky in some ways. I look at features in Godot and I go: "Man, I wish Gamemaker had that."

You know what the best part is? The enemies usually bunch up so close together, that the player most likely won't see that the spell actually does connect all the targets.

Also, I know my current invulnerability frames code needs some fixing but that will come later. As it is right now, any damage received makes the enemy immune to any other source of damage. In the future, I'll make it so they can still be hit by a different spell.

It moves in a line at random. It doesn't use AI but I thought it would be a fun one. Please note that it doesn't move to the wall it's next to. That wasn't easy (for my skill level). I also made a shield ability. It's the dungeon's item and it requires mana to activate (which I haven't coded either)

I also made the chests actually functional, with an opening animation and made it easy for me to choose what it gives but that's not as exciting as a laser beam shooting cyclops that will try to keep a favorable distance.

(Not that using assets is bad, but I enjoy drawing my own sprites even if they're bad)

Speaking of, the next step in the challenge prompts you to learn AI enemy behavior. I will do that, but I won't be doing any of the 3 options. Instead, I'll do a single "Zelda-like" dungeon. Focus for this is: AI Behavior, Control Schemes, and Dialogue. I also want to learn GameMaker's new UI layer.

I've also been chipping away at some level design. I have about 8 levels so far. Some being a simple concept drawing and some others already "playable". I still have to organize them and make sure they're actually fun but I'm feeling good about it.
