i really, really need people to understand that they *didn't* vote for this, no matter how much you insist they did. insisting "they voted for this" elides the information environment that led them to vote the way they did in the first place, the thing that actually needs fixing.

Yes, I can’t imagine why the AI companies would fail to disabuse people of the idea that their bots are actually sentient, it’s a mystery.
I find it incredibly concerning how many people don't understand what an llm is and how little ai companies are doing to disabuse them of incorrect concepts like the idea it is thinking or in some sense talking to you
