Us heroes, we have so much to do.
Don't do it, you sickos.

Don't you do it!

I'm watching you, #blutoid, you leave wholesome Kirby out of this!

I'm trying to clean my old apartment before moving out and security deposit inspections.

Me:
"Oh god no, how am I ever going to get this awful stain out?!"

I've said before that despite the meme status I legitimately really love the Darksiders series.

Honestly one of my favorite franchises of all time.

So I'm stoked to finally resolve the 15-year-old cliffhanger.

The message seems to be "We're shit at games."

Took my mom and sister to the natural history museum today. They have a herd of Triceratops on display until August.

Tricera isn't the BEST dinosaur, but it's still easily top 3, so a herd of them is very cool.

Canonically best dinosaurs:
1. Brachio
2. Stego
3. Tricera

Simple as.

Just came back from seeing Steam Boy, which is apparently Katsuhiro Otomo's only major movie besides Akira.

It was amazing. Brilliantly animated with some of the best and/or craziest steampunk you'll ever see.
Themes were a bit heavy-handed, but still exceedingly relevant.

Underrated!

#Blutoid, what's your favorite MK World course, and why is it Boo Cinema?

There aren't many courses that gave me the same "wow"-factor as MK8 Mount Wario and Sunshine Airport, but this is up there.

DK Spaceport and Great ?-Block Ruins are also great, and this iteration of Rainbow Road is amazing.

I always forget. It's not Deadly Creatures because that's the Wii game where you're a spider, it's not Strange Creatures because that's a movie, and it's not Heavenly Creatures because that's by Peter Jackson.

So I looked it up, and it's Impossible Creatures.

It's pretty old, dunno if it holds up.

Took them long enough.

Imagine being the biggest coalition partner, with three other right-wing parties, providing your own Immigration and Asylum minister, and then STILL whining that The Government(TM) isn't doing enough to stop immigrants.

Dan heb je een serieus probleem.

Boys go to Jupiter

Simple comedy styled like an indie game. A boy tries to save $5000 doing UberEats, hijinks ensue.

Unexpected highlight of the festival tbh.

Zany 'millennial' style humor that really worked, and the location wide-shots really do invoke certain videogames.
Just fun!

The Wolf House

A faux-propaganda fairytale about a woman who runs away from a cult in Chile.

Terrifying.

The subject matter is grim enough, but the papier-maché dolls make it that much worse.

Very powerful film, but deeply unsettling.

Mad God

An assassin is on a mission throughout a post-apocalyptic hellscape.

Amazing stop-motion, but I couldn't tell you what it was about even a little.

Watch it for the artistry, which is readily on display in every single shot.

Miss Hokusai

A slice-of-life about O-Ei, daughter of renowned artist Hokusai (the Great Wave), and herself a talented painter.

Again, a very nice artstyle. The movie is basically just a series of vignettes, but it works to show Hokusai as both an artist and a (flawed) father.

The Colors Within

(Barely disguised) sapphic romance about two girls in catholic school who form a band together.

I really liked the style on this one, and it's just a wholesome feel-good movie all the way through.

Very cute, worth a watch with a blanket and some tea.

Paprika

By Satoshi Kon, who needs no introduction. I'd already seen it, but it hits different on the big screen.

Gorgeous animation, fantastic soundtrack; still a masterpiece.

But seeing Mr Destructoid in it hits different these days...

Totto-chan

A spirited girl goes to Japanese primary school...in 40-45.

I find Japanese works about the war fascinating, but that aspect only hits during the second half of the movie. When it does, the film is much better for it.

Also, every character looks like they're wearing make-up 24/7.

The Glassworker

Handdrawn animation from Pakistan. A pacifist glassblower falls in love with the general's daughter.

It's wearing the Ghibli inspiration on its sleeve...but it's not quite there.

Looks great in stills, but in motion it's a bit off. Otherwise largely forgettable.

Memoir of a Snail

New movie by the same director as Mary and Max.

To be honest, this felt extremely similar. Same dark humor, same style, similar plot beats.

I'd almost suggest you can just pick one and skip the other; they're that close.

Mary and Max:

Claymation film about a young Australian girl who randomly sends a letter to the US, where it's received by an autistic man; they became pen pals.

Absolutely hilarious pitch-black humor, had great time with this. Recommended!

I found a simple origami model of a cat with a ribbon.
So, with a black/white piece of paper and a red pencil, I turned it into Jiji.

My first RPG was Pokémon Red for Gameboy. I couldn't read English at the time, but I got a guidebook to go along with it, so I made my way through.

Bulbasaur is still the best starter, fite me.

I got hooked many years later by Baten Kaitos. Was an impulse buy, but something just clicked!

So it seems I've been 'selected' by the Big N to place a pre-order next week.

Based on my purchase history and play time, no doubt.

On the one hand: neat!
On the other hand: I'm clearly waaaaay too deep in the pocket of a certain multi-billion € company for comfort.
