It is hard to come up with a better analogy for whiteness than preferring the AI simulacra of your supposed authentic art form to whatever a Black woman from your art form’s cultural geography might make.
As long as it's not Beyonce country music fans are fine with this development

Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning is awful in the best ways. It’s much too long, has some truly execrable dialogue, but damn those set pieces are somethin’ else. Exactly as expected and a great choice for Bad Movie Night™️

ever since I learned about three-cueing I've developed infinitely more patience for replies on social media. mfers literally do not know how to read. people are walking around conjuring random meanings into words they don't know, and they don't know a lot of words. it's crazy

How a flawed idea is teaching millions of kids to be poor readers
For decades, schools have taught children the strategies of struggling readers, using a theory about reading that cognitive scientists have repeatedly debunked. And many teachers and parents don't kno...

Ah wait, it was ‘99 not ‘98!
What a lovely surprise, to see On Spec and Diane celebrated like this!
I attended ConSpec in ‘98, after I moved back to Edmonton and was searching for community. I met Diane then, through the husby ☺️
I also recall it as my intro to @nalohop.bsky.social who was GoH. I loved all her panels! 🤓

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.
Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."
Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

A few weeks ago I zoomed with a group of high school students and their adult mentor to discuss taking social action. I am thrilled to report that this group of 10 students raised $10,000 in two weeks to support their local food pantry. They sent me a photo and it has them all jumping and I tear up.
